Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist Promotion Department
    • Reports to Dir. of Marketing & Promotion– duties assigned as necessary.
  • Public Relations
    • Assist with planning all media events.
    • Primary planner of Thursday Thunder and Friday Night Drags media events.
    • Maintain relationships with local and regional tourism organizations to help promote events while utilizing all marketing assets available to AMS.
    • Liaison for all community PR events: Blood drives, etc.
    • Oversee Promotional Pace Car schedule for all appearances/track uses
    • Ensure all media guides and programs are archived properly.
    • Respond to all fan inquiries (AMS forums, phone, mail or email).
  • Event Promotion
    • Brainstorm, with staff input, to find promotions to drive ticket sales.
  • Advertising:
    • Assist with the planning and execution of marketing and advertising plans for all Speedway events.
    • Assist on tracking and reporting of success of all advertising campaigns.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with media/advertising partners.
    • Ensure successful execution of all track promotion & agreements with media/advertising partners.
    • Source quotes on all print projects.
    • Maintain archive of all promotional material produced.
    • Day-to-day contact with Ticketmaster for copy and photos.
  • Event Weekend Responsibilities
    • Manage Media Center / Press Box on race weekend, including but not limited to scheduling, staffing, catering and logistics.
    • Assist with the coordination of event weekend credential requests including ordering credentials, approving external requests and assisting media with SMI Credential System.
    • Coordinate all promotion winners’ activities – assign worker to execute.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Switchboard rotation at front desk until two weeks prior to race.
    • Assistant duties: deliver mail, UPS shipments and place all Office Depot orders.
    • Thursday Thunder/Friday Night Drags/Motorama/track event rental staffing as needed

Manager of Communications – Phoenix International Raceway (Avondale, AZ)

The Manager of Communications will implement and help manage specific projects related to the successful execution of Phoenix International Raceway communications and outreach, securing high volume placement, and identifying opportunities. The Manager will also assist in developing successful short-and long-term communications strategies.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Creating and implementing strategic and integrated communications plans using a wide range  of communications tactics to support programmatic and organizational efforts
  • Conceptualizing compelling story ideas and drafting well-researched story pitches that result in media placements
  • Drafting, editing and disseminating communications materials such as press releases, media/photo advisories, website and other materials as required
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with local and national media, as well as fellow communications professionals within the motorsports community
  • Arranging and covering radio, print, online and television interviews/appearances as required
  • Working with Director of Communications to manage all media credentials application approvals and processes

  • Work across the organization to create measurable goals for promotional events (i.e. driver appearances, press conferences) and identify strategies to meet and exceed those goals.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS, Communications or related
  • 1-3 years of communications/public relations experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Supervisory Responsibilities

Management of temporary seasonal media center personnel
