Communications Manager – Marketing and Promotion Department – Atlanta Motor Speedway (Hampton, GA)

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, marketing or a related field, plus two to four years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. The qualified candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, will be highly organized, and will possess a well-developed sense of initiative. Candidates should also have experience with new and emerging media platforms. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel is required.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist Promotion Department
    • Reports to Dir. of Marketing & Promotion – Duties assigned as necessary
  • Writing
    • Serve as the primary writer for all AMS communications including, but not limited to: promotional collateral, souvenir program, newsletters, email blasts and press releases.
    • Assist with creation of press release schedule for event promotion
    • Conduct research to find and write feature stories
    • Provide copy for external promotions & track collateral
    • Serve as the primary writer for all Legends and Drags events
  • Public Relations
    • Assist with Public Relations initiatives by developing and maintaining relationships with local media outlets
    • Compile, analyze and create media placement reports for track events and initiatives utilizing VOCUS.
    • Ensure all local and national community events calendars are accurate and up to date with track events and activities.
    • Oversee archival of media clip file and reporting on media placement.
    • Edit and update all track media guides for NSCS and Legends events.
  • Marketing
    • Assist with copy writing for brochures, flyers, print ads, online ads, billboards, etc.
    • Assist in the creation and execution of video elements to tell the stories of the track.
    • Generate story ideas for Souvenir Program
    • Work in tandem with Track Graphic Designer to create track sales & marketing collateral.
  • Intern Program
    • Reach out to colleges with sports management programs to recruit high-caliber interns.
    • Manage day to day activities of interns.
    • Assist in interviewing process of interns.
  • Event Promotion
    • Brainstorm, with staff input, to find promotions to drive ticket sales.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Switchboard rotation at front desk until two weeks prior to race.
    • Staffing for Media Events as needed
